RIVKLE®

THE ORIGINAL RIVET NUT FASTENER

The Bollhoff RIVKLE® features a standard European design for “true metric” hole sizes which is what sets it apart from the very similar, RIVNUT®. The RIVKLE® rivet nut fasteners can be used in steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Perlane Sales carries the RIVKLE® line in multiple different styles.

RIVKLE® SELECTION CRITERIA

Choice of blind rivet nut bodies:

HEXAGONAL BODY

When set through a hexagonal hole, this form of blind rivet nut creates a secure thread mounting which prevents turning either on installation or use. Where hexagonal piercing is impractical, an OPTEX hydraulic cutter makes it possible to convert round holes into hexagonal.

ROUND BODY, PLAIN OR KNURLED.

Used in conventional drilled or pierced holes. The plain body does not carry the underhead splines which cut into the hole wall, increasing resistance to torque and makes it especially effective in softer metals and plastics.

OPEN-ENDED BODY

The most common option, where a shorter body length allows the setting mandrel to protrude from within the blind rivet nut.

CLOSE-END BODY

For any application where fluid is to be prevented from forcing its way between the internal threads and out through the top surface beneath the screw head. We have developed RIVKLE® with an underhead seal, which provides extra protection against fluids penetrating the hole in the workpiece.

SELECTION OF GRIP RANGE

Measure the thickness of the parent material. This should always fall within the grip range (minimum/maximum) of the RIVKLE® being specified. It is possible that the material thickness falls within the range of more than one product, in which case:

  • On a metal component choose the shortest length RIVKLE®. For example, for a thickness of 3mm, choose 2330 7060 230, in preference to a 2330 7060 255.

  • On a plastic part, a large flange is required to distribute the setting forces. Ask for advice in this respect.

SURFACE TREATMENT

Our standard quality of product finish for steel blind rivet nuts and studs is 8 microns zinc plating with yellow passivation. Depending on the required level of resistance to corrosion, other surface treatments are possible, on request.

SELECTION MATERIAL

Standard RIVKLE® is available in steel, aluminum and stainless steel. Selection will be determined by the mechanical strengths of the blind rivet nut, and the corrosion resistance required of the final product. Stainless steel product options are particularly suitable for the food and medical sectors as well as corrosive environments. For brass or non-ferrous options please consult us.
